Community Development releases new online platform for the public to be able to comment on and suggest edits to the City’s development regulations

May 29, 2020

The Department of Community Development is pleased to announce the release of a new online platform aimed at improving the Unified Development Code (UDC). The UDC is a set of regulations aimed at protecting the public health, safety and general welfare while balancing the various rights and responsibilities relating to land ownership, use, and development. The Community Platform can be found on the City’s website at: https://www.bozeman.net/government/planning/udc-discussions.

The website states: “Our development regulations need to be adaptable to address the evolving needs of our growing City. This Community Platform is the place to provide your input about the rules and regulations that impact Bozeman’s built environment. Proposed edits will be sorted and batched on a biannual basis... Comments regarding queued edits will be curated and posted per topic. The UDC is a living document that needs continued maintenance by its citizens.”

Director Marty Matsen shared: “We want to begin to change the perception of our regulations and provide a productive place for the public to share ideas and be able to comment on upcoming edits.”
